Crispy Tofu A.K.A Tahu Kress ala kikok

Posted by ameliousity at 5/12/2013 08:22:00 PM
This is one of my youngest brother most favouriteeeeee snack that I've ever made. It's made of tofu or tahu in Bahasa Indonesia. The ingredients are so easy to get and it's very easy to cook.

Ingredients:
Tofu (don't need to mention how much, it depends on u, how much tofu u want to cook)
Flour (much enough to cover the tofu)
corn starch (about 1/3 of the flour)
a pinch of salt
pepper
coriander (here's the magic spice)
baking powder (very little)
garlic (for marinate the tofu)
oil
seasoning for french fries (any flavor u like)

cut your tofu into dice shape, not too big but not too small either
note that after cutting the tofu into dices, don't forget to marinate them with some garlic and salt, so the tofu won't be too plain.

so here are the ingredients, it's so simple
as soon as you got your ingredients prepared, mix flour with corn starch. mix them well, then add a pinch of salt, pepper, coriander, and baking powder to the mix. When the flour's ready add the tofu into the mixed flour. Make sure all of your tofu are covered in flour.

don't forget to dry your tofu before mix them with the flour
Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan, fry the tofu until golden brown. Don't get so hasty in doing this step, the tofu will take quite a long time to be cooked.
be careful, if there's any wet tofu it will popping out the hot oil,,, trust me it hurts T_T

when your tofu has become golden brown, it's done. Take out them and put it in an oil strainer. Take some times to strain the oil.

drain the oil,,, now we're ready for seasoning
soon after that you can put your tofu in a container with a lid. Just put them in there, add some seasoning powder u like, close the lid, then shake shake shake it baby, hahaha this is my youngest brother's favourite part, he likes to this himself hahaha,,,,

I'm so sorry for bad picture, I only took it with my blackberry 's camera, the tofu color actually was bright orange

so now your tofu is ready, the seasoning flavour my brother chose was balado and roasted corn.. In this picture he mixed that two flavours, unfortunately u can't see the colors T^T

But I hope this recipe is useful for anyone wants to try to make it , bye bye :D
